E Pellicci. $ CAFÉ FAMILY It’s all Cockney banter and full English breakfasts at this tiny 1900 family-run greasy spoon café and one-time gangsters’ lair near the East End’s Brick Lane and Columbia Road markets. It’s a rowdy hole-in-the-wall for the greasy fry-ups Londoners still adore: copious eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, toast, tomatoes, fried mushrooms, black pudding, cabbage ‘n’ mash, and scorching hot tea. Merchants Tavern. $$ FRENCH FUSION FAMILY The legend on the front of this Hoxton sleeper reads “Merchants of Good Fortune,” and that neatly sums up the exceptional smart-casual gastro dining experience you’ll encounter within. Seasonal, veg-focused left-field hits from France, Italy, and Britain emerge from the open counter kitchen inside the spacious dining salon and craft-beer bar, housed in a former Victorian warehouse and onetime apothecary.
