Where to Eat in Broadway

Russell’s.

$$ | MODERN BRITISH | With a courtyard at the back and a patio at the front, this chic “restaurant with rooms” is perfect for a light lunch at midday or a full meal in the evening. The restaurant, in a former furniture factory belonging to local designer George Russell, is modern, airy, and stylish. Menus concentrate on Modern British dishes, with such temptations as Warwickshire lamb with rosemary gnocchi, passion fruit soufflé, and honey and ginger ice cream. There’s also an outstanding cheese board. Seven boutique-style rooms upstairs are very sleek. | Average main: £18 | 20 High St. | WR12 7DT | 01386/853555 | www.russellsofbroadway.co.uk | No dinner Sun.

The Swan.

$ | MODERN BRITISH | In the center of Broadway, this pub-restaurant makes a handy stop for a snack, lunch, a drink, or something more substantial. Service may be occasionally slapdash and the place can get congested, but on a weekday it’s cozy and convivial, with an open fire in winter and comfortable seating. The imaginative decor blends the traditional and trendy with large mirrors, a wood-paneled bar, and eye-catching knickknacks. Among the hot dishes you’re likely to find fillet steak with grilled mushrooms and watercress, or duck breast in a plum and roasted beetroot sauce; watermelon and feta salad is one of the favorites on the tempting light lunch menu. There’s a good wine cellar and plenty of cask ales, too. | Average main: £13 | 2 The Green | WR12 7AA | 01386/852278 | www.theswanbroadway.co.uk.
