In Person

Once Leo received the message of the meet up with the two other people on the forums chat he had positively rushed out the front door with his letter firmly tucked into his pocket. He had chosen to tell Dave he was going to just meet some friends for the afternoon. Having already tried to get answers from Dave, Leo did not want him to get him involved with this further then he needed to.

The coffee shop Jess had said for them to meet in was about a twenty minute bus journey from his flat. It was late afternoon by the time he was on the bus and he looked into the sky as he watched as the sun already began its daily decent. Where he was heading was a part of town he had been too occasionally, the pub he had met Alice at was only about a ten minute walk from there.

Upon getting off the bus at what he deemed to be the correct stop he pulled out his phone and typed in the coffee shop into his maps app. Leo followed the directions on his phone round a street corner of the main high street he was currently on. Once round the corner he looked up from his phone and saw the coffee shop he had been seeking.

Called, ‘The Red Leaf’, it sat at the end of the side street tucked away. Alongside it was a carpentry store and a pizza takeout restaurant, but most of the road was residential. Leo walked to the coffee shop and put his phone away. He reached into his jacket pocket to double check his letter was on him. He gave a final cautionary glance over his shoulder to see if anyone was watching him before he entered. He was unsure why he was doing this, but he felt a greater sense of security with knowing nobody was aware what he was doing or who he was meeting.

As he waked into the coffee shop the bell above the door rang and Leo was straight away hit with a strong smell of lavender and rich coffee fumes. He knew straight away this was not the sort of place he would in any normal circumstance find himself, but this far from any normal circumstance. Whenever he had gone for a coffee it was usually accompanied by a full fry up to help cure a hangover. He looked around and saw the smart layout of the coffee shop. Various styled old leather chairs sat around smart oak tables, the walls were filled with portraits and decorative plates, while an open fire roared at the far end of the coffee shop. Leo felt underdressed. The majority of the people here wore shirts, blouses and carried themselves in a way Leo knew he could never pull off. This was all the more laid clear to him by the fact he was in jeans, trainers and a worn out jacket with two day old stubble. Evidently the coffee barista behind the counter thought he was out of place also.
