To prepare Wild Violet Syrup:

1. Combine equal parts nectar and granulated sugar in a small stainless steel or tempered glass saucepan. Carefully heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. Do not boil the syrup; it could change the color and flavor.

2. Store the syrup in a covered glass jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. For longer storage, place in the freezer. This can be done by storing it in covered glass or plastic containers, making sure to leave a little space at the top of each (because the syrup will expand slightly as it freezes). Or, you could pour it into ice cube trays. Once it is frozen solid, remove the syrup cubes and place in labeled freezer bags. It is best when used within a few months.

3. Try mixing with equal parts of sparkling water for an intriguing cold beverage, or add a bit to a cup of hot tea. The fairies often enjoy sipping theirs from dainty cups made of hollowed-out nut shells.
