LED INTO INTIMACY

SCRIPTURE

I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!” (Psalm 32:8-9 TPT)

COMMENT

I have a goal. I want to hear from God every day—in fact, multiple times a day.

I came to the School of Supernatural Ministry (SSM) with this goal in mind. Ever since I got saved, I have had a hunger to be with the Trinity and an earnest desire to know God deeply. Yet before SSM, my past was riddled with poor decisions based on misinterpreted prophetic impressions from others, as well as my misinterpreting prophetic words given to me.

I was in a lot of debt, struggled with numerous character faults, and generally lacked revelation or discipline in my relationship with God. Despite my good intentions, my poor decisions left me hurt enough that I didn’t trust God and started to blame Him for much of what was going wrong in my life. I tried to hear from the Lord daily, but I heard Him speak to me maybe once a month. This life left me feeling like a failure.

I am happy to report that my life has changed dramatically. I learned I had built poor habits into my relationship with the Lord. First, I had to change my habit of obsessing over problems—whether my own or the problems of the world. Instead, I learned to let God speak to me about less weighty subjects. Then I could relax in His presence and risk not hearing clearly because the questions didn’t seem as important or didn’t require me to act upon His answers.

To rest and stop trying to solve all my problems along with those of the world was surprisingly difficult, but it felt like a breath of fresh air and soon set me on track to finding Him each day.

This was the first habit that the Lord changed in our relationship. In the next couple of entries, I want to take you deeper on the journey that I experienced so that you might meet the Lord daily, hear Him clearly, and be both powerful and free.
