We’re kissing, and we’re exploring, and there’s this strange and amazing sense of desperate rush and need combined with the feeling that we have all the time in the world, that this perfect little bubble of sensation and heat can last forever, just the two of us.
I begin kissing down his chest again like I did in the car, but this time when I reach his pants, I start to unbutton them, and he helps me, shrugging out of his jeans until he’s just in his boxer briefs, and I reach inside those, feeling the hard length of him, aching with each little gasp and moan my touch brings out. And then he’s doing the same with me, those sexy cello-string-calloused fingers dipping down beneath my underwear, teasing, lighting gently in places that make me see little stars behind my eyelids. I start tugging off my underwear, and he doesn’t hesitate to help, using the motion to run his fingers down along my leg again and back, up and up.
I want him inside me with a desperate need I’ve never felt before with anyone else, not even close.
Because now I’m starting to understand the difference between sex and making love, and I know I’ve only ever done the one and always, always longed for the other, even if I would never have admitted it to myself.
Even if I never felt worthy of it.
I sit back, and he sits up with me, and I guide him gently, like a dancer leading her partner, so that he’s sitting up with his back against the headboard again. I tug down his underwear, and notice the condom on the nightstand that I’m guessing he got out while I was in the bathroom. I straddle his lap, allowing myself the briefest sensation of him against me if not yet in me, which causes his eyelids to flutter, and mine as well. Then I tear open the condom, and begin rolling it on him, slowly, in a way that makes him groan.
He opens his eyes again when it’s on, and he’s got this expression of wonder, like he could stare at me forever.
