Evening October 28 to October 31, 2270.

As Alex opened his eyes, he found himself looking at Kate, Sam, Nicole, Ava and Mia. All of whom looked like they were teetering between excitement and worry as they waited to see if he was okay. On seeing the fidgets that they were making not moving in slow motion, Alex felt a tear run down his face as he wished he could move, or say anything. However, he was still fully encased in the gel and restraints that were part of the medical VR chamber, and his mouth was obstructed with his feeding and breathing tubes. Thankfully, Kate was prepared for this as she held up a note for him to read in front of the window he was looking out of.

‘Blink three times slowly if you feel that the logout was a success.’

Alex would have smiled if he could, as he very slowly and deliberately blinked three times while keeping eye contact with Kate. As he finished the final blink, Kate smiled widely and a few individuals that Alex took for nurses came into view, just before he felt the gel that encased him start to drain. While he couldn’t hear them, Alex could tell that all five of his wives were celebrating. Though, it quickly turned into impatience as they waited for the chamber to completely drain and the nurses to remove the restraints. Finally, after over a half hour of work, Alex was clean and free of all of the life support equipment. However, they had yet to remove the restraints as one of the nurses started to speak to him.

“Now, before we let you move your body at will, we need to make sure everything healed correctly and that you're not going to reinjure yourself. So, we're going to remove one limb at a time and have you leave them loose for us to manipulate. Once we have tested all four limbs, you will need to take it easy for a while and you will likely still feel weak for the next few weeks. Especially the injured arm, as we weren't able to stimulate it like we did the rest of your body's muscles for the past two months. So, with that said, are you ready for us to begin?”

“I think that I should speak with my wives before you do so,” replied Alex, his voice a bit more strained than normal due to the irritation of the tubes. “I have a feeling that they want to speak to me before you tell them that my arm's not healed and I need to be stuck back in the chamber for another week.”

“That's highly unlikely, but as long as they promise not to touch you, we can allow it.”

“Alex, just let them do the tests, because I don't think any of us will be able to promise that,” retorted Sam. “Besides, we've waited two months to be able to speak to you. 15 more minutes isn't going to kill us.”
