“The Carrier’s ARC Gun is aimed right at us!” Otto shouted as he monitored the live video of the ship through the screens. “And it’s warming up to fire!”

“I’m trying to get us out of here but the flight navigation controls have stacks of redundancies that I can’t work out,” Theo said, wildly clicking buttons and navigating through screens of complex splitspace vectors. “Leave it to Empyreans to make a one-man job need a staff of five.” He glanced over at Alex’s body as she stood still, staring into space with her red voided eyes.

“I don’t think she’s even doing anything,” Otto said, looking back at Alex. “Let’s just jump this cruiser, now!”

“She’s plugged into their network, if we sever the connection with a jump she might get permanently locked in. We’re not taking that chance.” Theo said.

“It’s all of us or one of her. We’re gonna be rendered into basic elements soon if she doesn’t do something about that ship!” Milly said.

Theo looked at his crew. “As soon as I figure this out. We jump.”

The center wall of the room sounded an alert.
