She’d been feeling really positive until that miserable shit burst her bubble. Fucking … some men. Kelly had been fuming for half an hour now and still no sign of Archie. If he didn’t come soon, she was going to have to speak to that shitebag again, and she could really do without that. And he was still scowling at her. The cheek of him.

She sent Robyn a message to tell her she was trying to deliver Archie’s glasses but his so-called mate was not being helpful. When she looked up, she saw Archie by the wagon with Obie, the man of misery. They were talking about her. She could tell that because the man of misery was pointing at her.

Archie took out his phone, read something and smiled. Then he came over and sat down at her table. ‘Hi Kelly. Thanks for bringing my sunglasses. They’re my only prescription ones, so I’ve missed them.’

‘No problem.’ Kelly’s anger melted just a tiny bit. Archie was lovely. No wonder Rob had a soft spot for him. Then she saw Obie, still throwing shade at her. ‘Your mate’s a bit rude.’

Archie smirked. ‘Well, you did belittle him in front of everyone that one time.’

‘It was so not belittling. If that’s all he’s got to be angry about, he’s lucky.’

‘He’s not angry.’

‘Miserable then.’

‘He’s not miserable either. He’s … troubled.’

‘Why is he troubled?’

Archie winked at her. ‘Gotta go. It’s Obie’s break. Thanks again for bringing the glasses.’

He went back to the wagon. Obie patted him on the back, stepped out into the yard, and walked past Kelly without looking at her.

Kelly tutted. ‘Troubled in the head, if you ask me.’
