LIBERTY VIEW

Lydia catches the subway directly downtown from NYNU and on the way she checks her notes, which have piled up during the morning.

Jesus. She’s lowered her standards so Chime will send her anything related to the case because she feels she should know what people are saying: Even if it’s bullshit, it might be useful to know. But it really is bullshit.

She looks for more info on Jene. Her name and the fact she attended NYNU within the last few years is enough to locate her, but her profile is remarkably unremarkable. She looks like any number of relatively well-off girls Lydia knew at LSTL—blond, tanned, manicured eyebrows, eerily straight teeth. Her stream is a mix of socials and urban landscapes and she expresses herself mostly via seeji animals, with foxes and penguins being particular favorites. There’s no substantial writing from her: she tags her images with fragmentary sentences, she doesn’t monolog. Her most recent post on main is a couple of weeks old.

Lydia wonders if she’s definitely got the right person. Jene doesn’t look the type to send reams of conspiracy theories to her old literature tutor. But perhaps that’s deliberate. People who advance conspiracy theories are paranoiacs. Maybe she was careful not to attract attention.
