Gin & tonic
Ingredients:
› 60 ml gin
› tonic water (preferably Fentiman's)
› 1 slice of lemon
› ice cubes
How To Make:
Fill a highball glass with ice cubes. Add gin and top up with tonic. Garnish with a gently squeezed slice of lemon.
Variations:
Rather than squeezing a wedge of lemon, you can use lime and leave the wedge resting on top of the ice in the glass. You can also use cucumber for flavour, instead of lemon.
This drink is just a regular mixed drink, and many people's preferred drink of choice. We often simply call it a G & T. It is said to have been invented when the army of the British Empire served in tropical regions in the 1800's. According to the legend, the quinine found in real tonic water (not in most kinds from the supermarket, but it is in Fentiman's), can treat malaria. Naturally, the army wanted to add something a little more exciting to this household remedy, and that's how the G & T was born.
