Baby Showers

Hey, you know what? Baby showers sometimes don’t have alcohol. And that’s totally fine. You can be okay with this, you don’t need to bitch and complain to everyone about it, and you don’t need to run to the nearest convenience store for a bottle of Blossom Peak or whatever, you lush.

Here’s what you do instead: Look like a nonalcoholic baby-shower rock star. First, hit the nearest thrift store—St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, Salvation Army, whatever. Inside, in the housewares section, they are 100 percent guaranteed to have a punch bowl and as many punch glasses as you need. Pick out your favorite set and take it home and wash it; thrift stores are gross.

On your way to the baby shower, stop by the grocery store. A big, cheap, chain grocery store is going to be better for this next step than some sort of high-end gourmet grocer. You need to pick up just four things: sherbet, juice, soda, and berries. When you get to the party, hit the kitchen and throw all of those ingredients in the punch bowl, mix it up well, and serve it. And, see, now you look like a hero. Congratulations.
