Tyler

Today, I mean business.

For maybe the first time ever, I'm the first one to arrive at the office. I've got a game plan mapped out in my head, and I have to get started on it. No more slacking off. Today is the day I prove Austin wrong – that I'm not a slacker, that I know my shit, that almost anything can be accomplished with good people skills.

Today is the day I save the damned company.

I begin by sending a few emails to every investor and major client. I've got to keep the ones we still have, and persuade the ones we've lost to stay on board with us. So I assure them that all the bugs have been fixed and our products are stronger than ever. I remind them of our invaluable apps that they rely on to manage their businesses. I hint about the next software products that are in the works for next season, and how they'll want to be sure and stay with us to have access to that good stuff.

I mean, they can't all just jump ship. Austin and his team have fixed the software problems, and we're as good as new. Why let one little slip-up ruin our relationship with our clients? Everyone makes mistakes, right? They have to understand that. Forgive and forget.

I'll wait until 9 am to start the phone calls, which will be sure to seal the deal. Just turn on a little Tyler Black charm, and they'll be putty in my hands. It never fails to work. Some sweet talking, some jokes, some reassurance of their fears and doubts, a reminder that we have the best software for their needs, and bam – we're back on track.

Hell, that Tyler Black charm has gotten me everything I've ever wanted. It's worked just as well with clients as it has with the ladies – not that I need it for those purposes anymore now that I have Katie, of course. But still, that good old-fashioned charisma has always come in handy whenever I have needed it.

Except it doesn't work that way for the first couple clients I call up. They're not having it. They've canceled their subscriptions to our software packages, and they won't listen to my sales pitch, my reassurances, or my jokes.

But no biggie. Just some bad luck at the start. It doesn't mean a thing. Lots of other old clients out there.

Okay, so it doesn't go my way for the next couple clients I call either.

Not a problem. It's not going to be as easy as I thought, but it's far from impossible. I mean, there's never been any crisis I haven't been able to resolve. Never a fire I couldn't put out.

I just need to take a breather, walk around the office. I hear people milling about the office suite outside my doors. That's what I need – human interaction. Shoot the shit with Austin, Katie, and the employees to boost my spirits.

Except leaving my office doesn't really help matters.
