After you're done with your primary workout, you can do a final easy sequence to fill your muscles with nutrient rich blood. For example, after 3 sets of 20 clapping pushups, you could do 3 sets of 10 pushups off your knees.

The light exercise will pump blood into the muscle and prime it for recovery and growth. Be sure to stop short of failure, the goal with this technique is to deliver nutrients to your muscles to help them recover, not to further tear the muscle down.

Failure Is Only

the Beginning

After you hit muscular failure, a spotter can help take some of the weight off your muscle to help you force out a few more repetitions. For example, if you're doing chinups and you can't do anymore, a spotter could help lift up your feet to allow you to complete a few more reps.
