You go to the mailbox one day, and there’s a thick envelope from a very official-sounding law firm. There’s a sheaf of papers inside, and the cover letter holds a bombshell. You have an uncle, a great-uncle, actually. He’s been overseas for decades, which is why you’d never heard of him, but the long and the short of it is—you’re his only heir. He recently passed away, and you’ve inherited everything. Land, titles, houses, jewels, and plenty of cash. Who wouldn’t want to find out they have a long-lost uncle? To inherit amazing riches. Who wouldn’t like to live a Cinderella story? To become royalty. Who wouldn’t like to have a Daddy Warbucks? To be adopted by a loving father.

As believers, we’ve been adopted by our heavenly Father. We’ve been made daughters of the King. We, too, have an inheritance.

In every situation, whether ordinary or life threatening, God assures us that He keeps His eyes on us and knows the number of hairs on our heads. Absolutely everything that can happen to us—good, bad, or indifferent—God knows and cares about. God is concerned about us all the time, in every area of our lives, even if nobody else is. He promises that we are never away from His presence.
