Deep down he had always considered he was in debt to Remy for taking him in when he did. Remy could have left him to die under that bridge, but instead, he took him in and has looked after him ever since. Even though he had barely enough food for himself, whatever he had, he shared with Silas. He had been nothing but a burden to Remy, no matter how much Remy insisted he wasn’t. Would it really be fair to Remy to stay with him? Endanger him to things far more dangerous than hunger and street gangs?

No, you can’t. He’s right, I need to leave.

“You were right,” Silas said when Remy woke up the next morning, having not slept himself.

He had never felt more guilty about anything in his life. It sunk in that Eclipse’s warning about him living with humans, wasn’t merely an evil ploy to keep him away from Remy after all. With everything that had happened to him since he had left New York weighing him down, he found it harder and harder to act as if everything was fine. He’d never been this depressed in his life, and he had gone through some shitty things.

Remy looked at him, waiting for him to go on.

“I’ll go back to New York to apologize at least,” Silas said.

Remy gave him a hug. “Don’t look so sad mon petite frère. You’re going back to the man you like, non? Who knows, he might forgive your sorry ass.”

Silas smiled through his tears while rubbing fervently at them. “I love you, Rem’.”

“I love you right back. You’ll always stay my petite frère no matter how old you’ll get.”
