Open Your Hips with Pigeon

As you sit in this pose you may feel intense amounts of stretching. Remember to breathe while you stretch and imagine the tension releasing with your exhale.

SELF-CARE TIP: BREATH OF FIRE

Breath of Fire is a strong yogic breath that will help to heat up your body, stoke your digestion, and tone your core. It is also very cleansing for your sinuses, which will help clear out any pressure and fogginess. You do this by pushing your exhale out through your nose and letting your inhale come rushing back in through your nose.

Sit in a cross-legged position or kneeling with a tall spine. Place one hand on your belly. Take a deep breath in. On your exhale, make it short and fast by contracting your abdominal muscles to push the breath out. Keep breathing in and out through your nose for one minute. When you finish take a deep inhale, then exhale through your mouth.

DAILY ROUTINE

On your eighth day start by taking 2 minutes to reflect on how far you have come in your first week. Reflect on what you have done and what you wish to gain in the next two weeks.

Get up and get going. Brush your teeth and scrape your tongue using a metal tongue scraper. This will help you remove unwanted bacteria from your tongue, leave your breath a little fresher, and start to stimulate digestion.

Head to the kitchen and make some warm water with lemon juice. Drink this first to wake up your digestive system and energize you as you start the day.

Next head to your meditation station. In your meditation, sit and silently repeat your daily motto. Set a timer for 5 minutes. At the end of the 5 minutes, try your breath and pose of the day. If there is time, give your self-care tip a try and practice your exercise of the day.

Go ahead and start your daily routine. Make some juice for your first meal. As always, you can have some healthy grains, nuts, or extra produce with it.

For a mid-morning snack, have a piece of raw fruit or vegetable.

Have lunch around 12 pm. Have fun with it—try a new recipe or a new combination of foods. If you have cooked vegetables and grains, add in a small raw greens salad with it. These enzymes will help you digest and keep releasing toxins.

For a mid-afternoon snack, smoothies, juices, fruits, and vegetables all work great for an energy boost.

*Optional time to exercise if not done in AM.

For dinner, incorporate more steamed and raw produce, such as a raw salad with soup or steamed vegetables, beans, grains, or nuts. Again, celebrate and have fun! Try to have dinner between 6 and 7 pm.

You can have another small snack after dinner.

Drink plenty of water, herbal tea, and hot lemon water throughout the day. This will help to keep your digestive system flowing and your skin glowing.

Before bed, meditate again and see how the mantra might sit differently with you now. Practice your self-care tip and pose if you haven’t already.
