Chapter 9

Nero

“How late were you up last night?” Dani asked from the back seat with a yawn.

Nero held onto the wheel as the car barrelled through the tunnel heading north. There were vehicles in front and behind him, their headlamps cutting through the oppressive darkness of the unlit tunnel. As the cars weaved back and forth, kicking up dust and even the occasional splatter of water or oil in the dank passageway, Nero found he needed to concentrate hard to keep from getting too close to any of the others. This was not an orderly, disciplined squad of vehicles driven by soldiers following orders; this was a chaotic warband of wasteland warriors out for blood.

Even so, he found the time to glance across to Nyx, who was already looking at him with a smile.

Flicking his eyes back to the road, Nero’s mind returned to the fun he’d had around the campfire last night. The memories of those three women knelt before him, taking it in turns to pleasure him with their mouths as they touched and kissed him was enough to stir his loins once more.

The party had soon become an orgy, with naked bodies everywhere you looked, indulging each other’s every desire.

He’d stayed with Nyx most of the night so they could enjoy the festivities together, and the wild time they had experienced would be a memory he would cherish, he was sure of that.

Just thinking back to some of the things he’d partaken of was almost more than he could handle, and he had to push the memories back and focus on the task at hand. He didn’t want to end up a stain on the tunnel wall because he’d gotten a little horny.

Eventually, they’d made it to bed, and slept soundly in each other's arms before being woken up by the residents of the camp preparing for the strike north through the tunnel.

Grok had asked them again that morning if they still wanted to be a part of the assault, but he needn’t have worried. Nero felt just as keen as the day before, but not as eager as Nyx was. Dani was still weak, however, and not really ready to join in with such a fight. She’d stay in the car and hide in the armoured sleeping compartment behind the back seat.

“Fairly late,” Nyx finally answered her mother.

Dani stifled a laugh. “Shit, I’ve turned into a mom without even noticing.”

“Don’t be out late now, you hear?” Nero said, mocking her with a high-pitched imitation of what he thought a mother would sound like.

Dani laughed.

“How long till we’re there?” Nyx asked when they’d calmed down.

“Not long now. You need to be ready to get in that compartment,” Nero said to Dani.

“Sure thing,” Dani answered, and started to open it as Nero noticed light up ahead. They were nearing the exit.

“Okay, here we go. We’re nearly there. Are you in, Dani?”

“I’m in,” Dani answered, holding the compartment door ready to close it.

“You ready for this?” Nero asked Nyx.

“You bet,” she answered, her hand on the sword as she adjusted her position, getting ready to leap out.
