5. Fit a pastry bag with tip #4. Fill the bag with gray icing. Outline the cake. To outline, touch the cake and gently squeeze the pastry bag to attach the icing. Continue squeezing, gently lift the bag, and pipe a line following the indentations shown on the baked cake. Stop pressure and touch the cake to attach the icing. Outline the entire cake.

6. Fit two pastry bags with tip #18. Fill one bag with black icing and the other with white icing. Fill in the outlined soccer ball with stars piped close together. To pipe a star, hold the pastry bag just above the cake. Squeeze the bag to pipe a star. Continue squeezing the bag until the star is the desired size. Stop pressure and lift the bag. Pipe the stars side by side and very close together so there aren’t any gaps that will show the cake underneath. Pipe the next row of stars between previously piped stars to eliminate gaps.
