What to Do

❶ Boil an egg for your child. You can do this step with your child to demonstrate how the egg is cooked.

❷ After the egg has cooled, show your child how to peel eggs and then let him peel his own. This may take time, but it is excellent for improving his fine motor skills.

❸ As your child peels the egg, put mayonnaise, sugar, and mustard into separate small containers and put them on the workspace within easy reach.

❹ Give your child a plastic knife to cut the egg in half. Dont worry about which way your child cuts the egg any way is fine as long as he ends up with two halves.

❺ Help your child scoop the yolks into a zipper-closure plastic bag.

❻ Spoon some mayonnaise, mustard, and sugar into the bag with the egg yolks.

❼ Seal the bag. Make sure there is not so much air in the bag that it will burst when your child squeezes it. To do this, show him how to lay the bag on the table and press out the air to seal it.

❽ Suggest that your child use his hands to squish the mixture in the bag until all of the ingredients are combined. After a sufficient amount of squishing, spoon the mixture from the bag into the egg halves.

❾ Enjoy your deviled eggs!
