Seven months later…

As soon as the graduating class of cadets had finished the ceremony, Liv hurried to her husband’s side as fast as her baby bump would let her. He watched her coming toward him, eyes glued to her stomach. “I’m so proud of you,” said Liv, stretching up to kiss his chin. The bump prevented her from getting closer or higher.

Putting his arm around her waist, he cupped her stomach with his other hand, rubbing gently. A little less than a year ago, he’d been dying in a hellhole in Afghanistan. Now, he had more to live for than he’d ever dreamed. He was a lucky man all right.
