Making a contact sheet is the simplest part of the image making process, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Aside from your darkroom setup, all you’ll need is the correct 50mm lens, a contact printing frame (or two 8x10 sheets of glass), your sheets of negatives, something to block light (like an extra black bag from a used box of paper or a piece of cardboard) and a box of resin coated (RC) 8x10 paper. RC paper is cheaper and not archival, so while it’s generally not used for finished prints, it’s good for contact prints. The purpose of a contact print is to be able to see what your frames look like as positive images. This way, you can select the ones you’d like to print.
