Funnily enough, through it all, there was no question of whether he’d lie to the coach and Haakon and everyone else to skip football practice and drive to Bristol. The question was what would happen once he got there.

Did Walker think that Alexander liked Shiloh and did he want to talk to him about it? Did Walker think that Alexander liked Walker and did he want to make it clear that he wasn’t interested?

Was Walker interested?

And if that, what then? Sure, Alexander had feelings. He grudgingly and only very recently had started to understand who he really was—and still he had days when he wanted to try to wash the gay off. He hadn’t spoken to a soul about it as it would open up a can of maggots the size of Montana—and with all else going on, he didn’t think he could take the scrutiny.

But despite all that, he would go. Of that, there was no question.
