“Annie? Is that you?” Nan asked.

“It’s nice to see you again, Gunner Stanski. Is Bosun Johansson with you?” the ship asked in her breathy feminine voice.

“Nah, he has gotten himself into a jam again,” Nan said. “Do you think we can get you airworthy again? I’ve been dying for a dropship, if you are looking to leave this hole?”

“My engines are tired, and I have airframe damage. I believe I could be marginally airworthy with the reattachment of my wings. I have no ammo, countermeasures, nor wingman drones, however.”
