Hours later he was in his garden. Heâd rushed through his work with an eagerness which had been missing since he arrived back at the palace. All because of his desire to have a clear plate to go away for the weekend. He would be going regardless of whether Priya wanted to come with him.
His parents had been understanding when he told them his intention. Almost sympathetic. His father had already gone through the same experience so he probably had an idea of how Rohan was feeling.
Rohan glanced at his watch. Heâd been waiting in his private garden for ten minutesâhe hoped Priya was going to turn up. Heâd sent her directions, but what if they werenât clear enough and she was wandering through the vast grounds of the palace looking for him. He would need to organise a search party unless someone in her team was able to track her.
He should have asked her to share her location with him. He laughed as the thought crossed his mind. That was too close to stalker behaviour.
Priya was probably fine. She was simply running a little late. His wasnât so high and mighty as a royal he couldnât wait a few minutes for someone.
âSorry, sorry,â Priya called as she rushed through the door. âIt took longer to finish things because Mac is still insisting I take the long weekend.â She smiled, then slowly did a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree turn. âThis place is beautiful. I havenât seen some of the trees anywhere before.â
âItâs become a little wild,â Rohan admitted. âThe trees come from different parts of the island, but they were cultivated to grow in this garden. Thereâs a bench over here. Why donât we sit down so we can talk?â
âOf course,â she replied, following him. But he could see her eyes dart around the garden trying to take everything in.
âDo you like gardening?â he asked.
She shrugged. âDonât know. Never had a garden.â
âNever?â
âWell, we had a small garden when my mum was alive. But I was too young to have much to do with it at the time. Then it was boarding school. And mine didnât have a gardening club or anything. Now I live on the third floor of a block of flats. But one day, Iâm going to buy a house with a garden.â
It was such a simple goal. One he could help her achieve with the click of his fingersâthere were plenty of lovely homes with gardens on Adysara. What other goals and dreams did she have? He wanted to make every dream of hers come true.
âI think we should go away together this weekend,â he blurted out.
She whipped round to face him. âPardon?â
âI want to get away from the palace for a few days. I thought it would be a good opportunity to visit Ajanta and Elloraâtour the caves, examine how the sites have been preserved and generate some ideas which we can implement here. Since youâve got a few days off too, I thought you might want to come along.
