3. Have your Chi “charged up” by a master. Another way to restore your feeling of Chi is to have your Chi charged up by a master. A Taoist master who possesses the ability to exercise his Chi can flow and even radiate his Chi signal outside of his body.
According to the secret teaching of Tao’s ancient lineage, a master who possesses the ability to radiate his life energy signal is like a powerful iron magnet. The student, consequently, who has weak or even no feeling of his or her life energy, is like a piece of iron without a magnetic field. When you pass a piece of nonmagnetized iron over a magnet again and again, the nonmagnetized iron also becomes a magnet. A student’s life energy can be “wakened” by a master’s strong Chi signal just like a piece of iron subject to a magnet.
Another analogy to describe the direct Chi-transfer help from a master to a disciple is the lighting of a torch. A student must learn how to make a flammable torch, while the master is like a fireplace offering a fire source. By subjecting the torch to the fire, the torch is lit and can be carried elsewhere to start a new fireplace. The new fireplace gives warmth and light, and can also light another torch.
However, the student must spend a good deal of effort and time to make himself ready as a flammable torch. Only then can the fire be transferred. A non-flammable torch made of rock, metal, or dirt, or a wet torch, will not be able to receive the fire. Therefore, in the ancient Taoist teaching lineage, students were asked to dedicate great effort and time to make themselves “torch-ready” before receiving a “charge-up” Chi signal from a master. This meant working toward purity of mind, an awareness of Chi, the ability to flow Chi, and attaining a high quantity and quality of Chi.
In our modern-day lifestyle, people find less time to practice and grow their Chi. It takes a longer period of time to make good progress to advance the quality and quantity of Chi. Therefore, to make substantial progress, in addition to meditation, T’ai Chi practice, Chi-flow practice, and two-person practice, a charge up from a master’s Chi signal to accelerate a student’s Chi becomes a necessary step.
4. Do all of the above simultaneously. How you choose to develop your Chi is a matter of personal preference. Any of the above steps can help, or you can choose to combine them all. Much will depend on your lifestyle and your current access to instruction.
You may choose to first practice motionless meditation to bring up your Chi awareness. Then you could progress to moving meditation, which is commonly known as T’ai Chi exercise. And, when you are ready, you might ask a master who possesses Chi to help you by charging up your Chi signal. All these efforts are designed to increase the feeling of your life energy so you can reconnect to it.
