Chapter 15
Liam
Thank fuck for insurance.
Thatâs the thought going through my head as I walk to my truck, having spent the last three hours dealing with this cluster fuck. Iâm pissed, hungry, and confused. Why in the hell would someone want to burn down a nearly completed community center? In all of my time with Storm Construction, Iâve never seen this happen.
My dad came by once he heard the news and gave me his insider knowledge. Unfortunately, it wasnât much. âAll the windows were broken first, then the fire started at the back entrance. No suspects right now, but some of the guys from my department are canvassing the neighborhood, see if we get any witnesses worth interviewing.â
Our conversation didnât go much past that since we both had shit to take care of. Apparently thereâs a drug problem cropping up and heâs knee deep in his own investigation.
Basically, shit is hitting the fan, and I really do not want to hang out with everyone tonight. Iâd much rather stay in, watch a movie with Violet, and maybe break in my new bed at the house with her. However, Iâm not that lucky, pun intended.
Cameron already left me a message saying heâs picking me up at seven to meet the girls at a local karaoke bar. I guess Lucy and him share a couple of business classes at Hartford and already had each otherâs numbers, making it easy to set something up for tonight.
It irks me that they think Iâd be up for something like this after the morning Iâve had, but I stuff those feelings down and continue my drive to the office.
Iâve got a ton more shit to deal with.
â
âFuck yeah!â Cam slams his tequila shot and shakes his head like the dog that he is. Much to my dismay, this draws the attention of three different women who have been eye fucking him since we showed up twenty minutes ago. Weâre waiting for Violet and Lucy to get here, but I got a text a few minutes ago saying they were running a little late.
Jacksonâs, the karaoke bar weâre at, is hopping with people, even this early at night. The lighting is low, the alcohol is flowing, and people are already losing all of their worries on the dance floor.
âIâll be right back,â Tyler yells. His eyes have been glued to his cell the whole time weâve been here, but now heâs making his way towards a black haired woman by the bathrooms. I donât recognize her, but the frustrated look on her face could give Ty a run for his money.
I like her already.
âTheyâre here!â Cameronâs exclamation makes me swing my gaze to the front doors. Who I see trailing behind Violet and Lucy instantly brings back my pissy mood from earlier.
âWhy is Cooper here? I thought you said just the girls were coming.â Cooper throws his arms around Violet and Lucyâs shoulders, making me clench my fists. Dude needs to back the fuck off.
âFuck if I know.â Camâs response has me turning towards him.
