There are three types of resistance exercises featured in the cross-training component of the brain training system: core conditioning exercises, power exercises, and corrective strength exercises addressing common muscle imbalances in runners that often contribute to running-related injuries. As just mentioned, I will show you some corrective strength exercises—which only runners with muscle imbalances need to do —in chapter 9. Here I will focus on the two mandatory types of resistance training: core conditioning and power development.
