What causes an oversupply?
Making too much milk is natural for some mothers. Nearly all mothers produce more than enough milk for their baby in the first few weeks, but when this continues beyond that period it is considered an oversupply. Oversupply can also be caused by expressing milk repeatedly over time and artificially stimulating more milk production when it would otherwise be considered unnecessary.
What are the signs that I have too much milk for my baby?
• you have firm, tight, uncomfortable breasts, regardless of baby feeding well and to his appetite’s satisfaction
