Besides, with Kalrus here, they would be able to take the second floor without any risk to themselves. Which also meant he didn't want to hold back with buying upgrades. Not until he knew the next floor would be even harder than the first.

"What's the most expensive thing in the shop?" Kalrus asked.

Maxwell spoke up. "Apparently, you can buy a Spell Book of a Rank 1 spell with only three points."

I doubt there are any other useful spells like my Arcane Missile or Blink Step in the Rank 1 Spell Books. There were still eight hours left to purchase another Skill Upgrade before he advanced to the third floor.

But even so, he needed more than his spells if he wanted to make this work. He doubted his spells would reach Rank 7 and evolve again before he reached the third floor. He could already feel that if he tried to upgrade them to Rank 4, it wouldn't go through. That only meant one thing: he would have to save them for the next round.

It means I have to buy a new spell. Or at least something else. A skill that could enhance his current arsenal. Not that I'm particularly familiar with the skill options I can get...

I mean, I know I want some sort of healing skill, but what do I get after that?

Damus tossed the coin in the air, caught it and pocketed it. The system shop had materialised in front of him before Kalrus even made a conscious decision to open it, hovering before him.

There were hundreds of categories, each branching off in different directions. Clothing, weapons, armour… everything imaginable, apparently. And a lot he couldn't.

He could filter by type or specific cost, though even scrolling through the cheapest items still revealed the F Grade tag. As he had thought, anything above the lowest grade was greyed out.

He didn’t pay attention to how many Lesser Spirit Coins things cost.

I need to start off slow, and this isn’t something that needs to be rushed.

The manual also talked about quests. There would be quests to gain access to worlds and for killing certain beasts or completing objectives.

It was pretty basic, but that was likely because they were just beginning the tower. They wouldn't be getting the high-quality quests until they had higher Cores. The Cores could be upgraded at shops run by Champions and other members of their parties.

Once they did so, they would be able to unlock all sorts of different things... apparently. But, according to the manual, every shop had different items available for purchase—sometimes exclusive things.

It would be up to Kalrus and his party to do whatever was necessary to upgrade Cores in order to progress in the Tower of Champions.

It was time to stop talking and see how this system shop thing worked. Kalrus reached out towards one of the category tabs on the System Shop interface that now floated in front of him.

It didn't take him long to realise that if he focused on a certain product in the interface, additional information would appear next to its price.
