The three Wobbie ’Mechs kept pushing Davion back. He couldn't hope to outdistance the light, fast machines, he couldn't take the pounding of their continued fire, and suddenly there was no cover.

He put a Gauss slug into the Wasp and a flight of SRMs into the Ostsol.

The three ’Mechs answered with a barrage of fire that spiked his cockpit temperature and sliced armor away from his already-damaged ’Mech.

And then suddenly the Legionnaire was in front of him, tearing into the Locust with its autocannon.

The little machine went down and Pops turned his terrible cannon on the Wasp.

But he never got the chance to follow through on the attack. The Ostsol turned and savagely attacked the Legionnaire.

Pops's machine was a tough little customer, heavily armored for a medium, and it could take a lot of punishment, but it already had taken a lot of punishment.

The Ostsol's PPC tore into the Legionnaire's weakened armor, followed by a brutal round of mixed laser fire. The Legionnaire staggered and fell to its knees.

Davion stepped forward and cut into the Ostsol with his own medium lasers, but the enemy heavy would not break off its attack. It continued to pour darts of chromatic light into the Legionnaire.

Davion gritted his teeth. This wasn't a battle. It was an execution.

That's when Pops punched out.
