Noah waited for the others to leave before turning to Jack. “Now that they’re gone, have you looked up this Arny Gimble? Or Graff Barret for that matter?” He clasped his hands on the table. “I’d like as much detail about them as we can get. An old soldier should still be in the database.”

“I’m looking,” Olly said. “Yep, came up right away. He’s listed as MIA but a note here from his CO claims he went AWOL. Hard to know, which is true considering what went on out here. Either way, he was a corporal way back then. Must’ve come up for air at some point and settled in Ferriday Central.”

“Think about the law out here,” Jack added. “He must be tough if he’s handling it mostly alone. Still, I question his judgment sending a yokel like Arny out to Gallik. That kid was meat for these hardened crooks.”

“Yes, but that’s not entirely surprising either,” Noah said. “The kid draws a different kind of attention than a hard case. Look what happened when they recognized Rita. It went crazy. I want a full profile on Graff. Erica said the trip should take seven hours. We’ll leave in one. Jack, grab the information on our sheriff, will you?”

“What about me?” Olly asked. “What would you like me to do?”

“Get some rest,” Noah said. “When we arrive, you’re going to be busy. Let your men know to take it easy as well. Once we’ve spoken to Graff, we’ll know specifically what we’re doing... whether we’re helping him with his local trouble or not.” He turned to Jack. “Check on this Manfred Jones as well. We might have a record on him.”

“We should just get Rita to tell us more,” Jack replied. “She seems to be in the know, as it were. But I’ll see if the Confed database has anything. Maybe he’s committed crimes on our side of the border.”

“Alright, I think we’ve got a plan.” Noah stood. “I’ll give Erica the news that we’re on the way. She’ll take relief. Put the night crew on the bridge for the duration of our trip. We’ll meet back up when we arrive. Thank you gentlemen. I have a good feeling about what we’re about to find. This... was an excellent start.”
