MACA CHOCOLATE MILK

INGREDIENTS
4 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
8 pitted dates
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon maca root powder
1/4 teaspoon pure stevia powder

1 Place all ingredients in a large blender.
2 Blend on high until the dates are thoroughly combined and the mixture is completely smooth, 1–2 minutes.
3 Chill before serving. May be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 5 days.
KEY INGREDIENT: Maca Root
Maca is a starchy root vegetable that is grown in South America. You won’t find it served at restaurants or even in your grocery store, though. Thankfully, this superfood is found in powder form in most health food stores and is readily available online. Maca root was first used by the Incas over 2,000 years ago. They relied on it for its ability to give them sustained energy and endurance. It’s easy to see why it was so important to the Incas when you discover that the maca root has more than fifty-five different beneficial phytochemicals.
Maca root has many medicinal purposes. It’s been shown to enhance your memory and your mood and give your immune system a boost. It’s used for its antiaging properties as well as treating adrenal fatigue. One way it’s thought to help with inflammation is by regulating inflammatory hormones like cortisol. Maca has also been found to reduce inflammation at the cellular level.
