Chapter 15

GIGI

Something was bugging Steve after the call with Rex. He was old enough to be his father, but they were good friends. Steve had envied Rex the first time he met Gigi. She was in her early twenties, and he couldn’t believe how gorgeous and nice she was. Surely they were dating? But Rex assured him they were only roommates and were seeing other people.

Steve could tell something was worrying Rex the moment he spoke. The thing that happened to Gigi was weird, out of the blue and so out of character.

After Rex told him where Gigi was found, he had gone to the hotel and talked the staff into letting him see the security camera tapes. Sure enough, she appeared on them. He had rewound it back to the time shortly before she called Rex. The tapes showed her in the hotel lobby at that time. It was just as Rex said, even the details. What puzzled him was the camera footage before she got there. It was angled, not facing the elevator, so there wasn’t a good shot of the doors opening when Gigi came into the lobby. He caught a blur of three people walking across the room, two men with Gigi in the middle. He would have to figure out some other way to find out who brought her in the hotel.
