I never thought of it before but the research that I worked on for my promotion, had everything to do with project SS2045. My research consisted of infectious diseases, airborne and engineered pathogens related to biological weapons.

Pinching the bridge of my nose, I studied the women. “For a second, let’s not consider national security and government clearance levels.

Delila wheezed. “Yes. I collaborated directly with them on the Super Soldier 2045 project.”

“Do you want your security clearances revoked? You could end up in jail. You don’t know her security clearance levels and we are never to refer to the project by that name only SS2045,” said Caitlan.

Evelyn snorted. “They sold us out and we are probably already assumed dead. A security clearance is the least of your worries.”

Maia cursed. “Are you stupid? Our government sold us. What good are your security clearances now? Look at where we are. We have to figure this out.”

A razor blade wasn’t going to help us get off this planet. I had some weapons, but they were not enough. The last thing we needed to do was argue among ourselves. We were already at a disadvantage.

I handed the blade to Evelyn. “I trust that you know how to use this.”

Evelyn took the razor blade. “Yes, I grew up on the southside of Chicago in a bad neighborhood, called West Garfield Park. I know how to use all types of weapons. I’m not proud of how I grew up, but it made me one tough cookie.”

Delila smiled. “Hey, it's not where you were born. It's where you're going.”

“We have to get out of here. I don't intend to stay to meet the king. He wanted me dead and I'm not ready to die.” Shrugging, I looked at them. This was the moment things were going to get real. It was time for action.

Caitlan laughed. “What's your plan? I think I can speak for all of us in saying that we don’t want to stay here and get raped.”

I looked at the bathroom door, then back at them. “We were going to have to leave this room and go through the halls to escape. It will be dangerous because we couldn’t trust anyone.”

Caitlan frowned. “If we stumble upon some women, they might be able to help us.”

I shook my head. “No. Some of the females here want to rape you too. We are not looking for anyone. We are escaping. Our window for leaving is closing on us. When they go to check, and we are found missing there will be a planet wide search.”

Maia nodded. “We’re doing good to escape. We are outnumbered, on their turf, and they have weapons.”

Karina stepped forward. “I have a colorful past with our government as well. Let’s just say, I can be extremely useful if the opportunity presents itself. I can sometimes create an opportunity when one is not present.”

Caitlan rolled her eyes. “That sounds like cryptic bullshit to me. You probably don’t have any more skills than the rest of us.
