CURTAINS FOR ME

DIRECTOR: Leonard Horn

TELEPLAY: Robert C. Dennis

STORY: Anthony Gilbert

Suspecting her husband (KENT SMITH) of being a murderer, Maureen Hughes (JANE GREER) now feels her own life may be in danger because she knows too much. In his sleep, Hughes confessed to her that he poisoned his ailing first wife, a woman whom Maureen, a nurse at the time, had been taking care of. Feeling she’ll be next if her husband discovers that she knows the truth, she asks lawyer Paul Brett (ROBERT WEBBER) what to do, and is relieved when he tells her that a wife cannot testify against her husband in court—which is probably why Hughes married her in the first place. Unexpectedly, Hughes commits suicide and Maureen and Brett are married. In her sleep one night, Maureen reveals that it was actually she who poisoned the first Mrs. Hughes. Brett hears this and dictates the story into his tape recorder, unaware that Maureen has awakened and realizes that he now knows the truth. As he continues working, she slips some poison into his drink and later burns the tape recording.
