William Woodman died in 1891, and Mathers and his wife moved to Paris and set up a second lodge there. Mathers renamed the Second Order to “Ordo Rosae Rubeae et Aureo Crucis.” (Order of Rose of Ruby and Cross of Gold). He was very jealous of Westcott, and serious discord led to Westcott disassociating himself with the Golden Dawn in 1892. Mathers appointed Florence Farr as the London head. She was a well-known actress and feminist, a powerful personality, and the mistress of both Yeats and George Bernard Shaw.
