Oh, the shit he spewed in my general direction for the whole day. Once I got him settled, though, my brother silently locked himself in the room they gave him. I sat in the living room with the four guys and asked them, “Are we putting you out of your rooms?”

Haze picked me up and settled me onto his lap. I cuddled up against him. “No. We have seven bedrooms here, so you’re no trouble at all. We could even build more on, if it became necessary.”

That’s good. Right then, I didn’t think I could make it to the bedroom. I closed my eyes, and Haze hugged me tighter. I yawned, then said, “Thank you guys for finding him. I’m screwing all of this up.”

“It seems like an impossible situation, but I think with time, it’ll get better.” Yarrow sounded sure of himself. “I’ve seen lots of men coming off trauma go into a constant fight mode. That’s what Danny is doing. He’s fighting and fighting. He doesn’t even know what or why anymore. We’re going to get this under control. And we’re going to take care of you, because we…we care about you a lot.” He squeezed my knee.

It was the last thing I heard before I let myself drift off to sleep.

I woke up in the morning to find Haze snuggled next to me. Prince was there, too. I blinked awake. “Sorry. Did I sleep too long?”

“No.” Prince kissed my cheek. “You didn’t. It’s still early. Your brother is quietly sitting in the kitchen with Yarrow. Bodhi is cooking. Take your time getting up. There is no rush. We can do a little bit of work today and otherwise ease back into things. Okay?”

Haze squeezed my waist before he kissed me, too. “Good morning, Cambree. We’re so happy you came home. What were we going to do if you stayed there?”

Prince sighed. “We were going to move into town.”

I glanced around at the home and beach they so loved. They would be willing to give it all up just to be closer to me? I grabbed onto both of them and held on tightly. “I know that he’s about to say horrible things to me. You’ve already heard them, but he…this isn’t who he used to be, and I have to believe that I can get him back. He’s my brother, and I’m not his mom. I’m just trying the best I can.”

“Yarrow told you what we think.” Haze squeezed me back. “All will be okay. We just need time, and we have that here. This is the kind of place where people can heal. You’ll see.”

I hoped he was right. I didn’t know if it was the place. In truth, it might just be them. They were the kind of people that made everyone around them better. Well, possibly. I wasn’t convinced at this point that I had any sense of what to do about Danny.

When I’d dressed enough to be presentable, I stepped into the kitchen area.
