Modifiers of Action

There are ways of making the playing of your Actions more compelling — they are called modifiers, in that they modify the Action, not change it — just as an adjective describes a noun but doesn’t change it. The word “blue” modifies the noun “chair” in the phrase “I sat in the blue chair.” Blue doesn’t change the reality that you are sitting in a chair, it elaborates what kind of chair.

Drivers, as discussed previously, determine the intensity of the playing of Action — answering the question: How much? Make the Driver more imminent and the Action will be pushed forward, sometimes to the point of violence.

But there are other modifiers of Action that are not Drivers but actor choices that enable the actor to bring more interest to the work.
