Dear Reader,

Thank you so much for joining me on Marianna and Ethan’s journey. I used to work at our state school for the deaf located here in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Of course I drew upon my experiences there, but I promise, all the characters are completely products of my imagination, as are the activities that take place on the fictional campus.

I know so many wonderful deaf people and love deaf culture and the deaf world so much that I wanted to write about it. Marianna came from a large, protective family that would have allowed her to stay within their loving boundaries, but she was blessed with a streak of independence that enabled her to venture into the world without fear. However, she knew she had the comfort zone of her family to fall back on should she need it. And she did. She also knew God was the one who was going to have to rescue her and keep her safe. Fortunately, He chose to use Ethan to do it. I just love how God allows us to be a part of His master plan, don’t you?

I think about this often. I want to make sure that I’m open to what the Lord wants to do with my life, and I pray you do, too!
