Jack went back to Jason's office. “He should be okay for now. I think he might be in over his head, though.”

Jason nodded. “He didn't impress me much. Eduardo has schooled him reasonably well in administration, but he‘s weak in the sciences.”

“Susan said as much. I'm not sure what she sees in him, frankly.”

Jason smiled. “I suspect you're indulging in a little wishful thinking. Still, you're right. It should be easy enough to manipulate him. Susan might be more of a problem, but we can keep her distracted.”

“Isaac will talk to her.”

“We’ll keep her too busy to talk to the computer. Discourage it from interrupting her training.”

Jack shook his head. “I have reservations about all this. It doesn’t seem fair to hold them back.”

“Maybe not, but that’s what Earth wants. We know they want to send ships through the Link, and that will happen eventually. Maybe sooner rather than later, so we need to be ready to justify our actions.”

“Susan will finish the neurotrainer program and start asking questions.”

Jason shrugged. “We’ll have to deal with that then. I’m betting she will be very willing to stay at Ellis as a roboticist, and her husband won’t leave without her.”
