The author referred to (Blackstone) says: “A fourth species of remedy by the mere act of the party injured, is the abatement, or removal of nuisances.” On this the following commentary is made in note 6. “So it seems that a libelous print, or paper [not the printing press on which they may have been printed] affecting a private individual may be destroyed; or, which is the better course, taken and delivered to a magistrate” (See Chitty’s Blackstone, bk. ii, chs. i, iv, note 6). The destruction of libelous “prints and papers” can scarcely be held to sustain the action of destroying a “printing press” [BHR].

The reader should note that Chitty’s version of Blackstone was not published until 1848. Hence, they had not access to notes (prepared and included by Chitty) referenced by B. H. Roberts in the History. Other versions, like Christian’s 1807 version of Blackstone’s Commentaries, do not contain Chitty’s remarks (or any inferences drawn therefrom) [MT].
