Chapter Twenty-Two
Angeline
The next day was⦠torturous.
Johnny showed up to make breakfast, as promised, but whether or not heâd banked on Shayla being there was anyoneâs guess. When he walked in, both of us were in the kitchen, though weâd just gotten up and started making coffee.
If Shayla thought anything was unusual about her brother strolling in to make us breakfast on a Tuesday morning, she didnât say so. She actually seemed quite happy to see him and frothed him a latte. It was her second day of rehearsals for the Players video shoot, so maybe she thought that was why he was here, to wish her well?
Maybe he partly was?
He did make a point of meeting my eyes when she wasnât looking. She was getting ingredients out of the fridge and his eyes crashed into mine. I stared as he dragged his teeth over his lip and my insides lit on fire, while Shayla babbled excitedly about her day.
Then the two of them got talking about the upcoming video shoot while he cooked. I just watched him, trying to read him while I sat quietly at the island. But he wasnât giving much away.
Heâd come over like he said he would.
But after last night⦠I wasnât even sure what the fuck to say around him. Especially in front of Shayla. Were we lovers now? Were we a thing?
Would we have to tell her? Soon?
Did he really mean all that stuff about exploring my body and âmaking loveâ to me anytime Iâd let him?
I wanted to believe it, desperately.
But the man was a player, after all. It was hard to know what might be a line, ego-stroking attention seeking, or just plain fun and games.
Was I a calculated conquest?
Or did he actually like me?
It was already kinda bothering me how much I was hoping for the latter. Because last night was⦠unexpected. And wildly fucking exciting. Iâd be flat-out lying if I said I wasnât dying to find out what happened the next time we were alone together.
Iâd felt safe over the phone.
But it was also a terrible tease. The thought of experiencing it again, this time in the fleshâ¦
With his hands on meâ¦
I felt desperate to make him comeâwhile looking in his eyes, so I could get a better sense of what the fuck was really going on here. So Iâd know how the fuck to feel about it.
That, and I just really fucking wanted him. There was really no reason to pretend otherwise now.
Now that heâd opened that door⦠and Iâd gone tumbling through, dildo in hand.
I tried to be careful not to check him out when Shayla was looking at me. But luckily Shaylaâs mind was elsewhere, which gave me plenty of opportunity to ogle.
Johnny was wearing a snug white tank top that showed off his mouthwatering physique, his artful, sexy tattoos⦠and those fucking joggers again.
This time, he appeared to be wearing supportive underwear beneath. For his sisterâs benefit?
I thought about how heâd confessed that he knew I was about to walk in on him when he was naked that day in his bedroom.
