The Reeds’ terrier mix, Shelby, and Angela’s mother’s dog, a fourteen-year-old shih tzu named Ally, were kept at home instead of attending the couple’s wedding in Birmingham, Alabama, because of age and medical issues. But they were still able to have their photos taken at the reception site—although it required a remarkable amount of discipline on Shelby’s part. “Shelby’s on medication for seizures, and it makes her so hungry,” Angela says. “We were afraid she was going to wind up heading for the kitchen and eating.” Even though the facility’s catering department was in full swing and food odors were everywhere, Shelby, who sported a white collar with a tiny bouquet attached to it, remained remarkably focused. “Shelby poses well for me,” Angela says. “Actually, she and Ally both behaved great. We had no problems at all.”
