What are we going to do?

Once the party is over, I try to stay and help clean up, but Karen shoes me away. I feel better when she is shoed away too. Several people from the pride stayed behind to help clean up. They’ve already got it half way cleaned before I even head inside.

They clean like they’ve cleaned up after several pride gathers. And they probably have.

I know that Alpha Frank has a lot of parties, dinners, and get togethers for everybody in the pride. There is even ‘groups’ inside the pride. Like... the singles group. They get together every Friday night and go out. They always meet here before they head out for a bar or a club. I found out that they don’t drink. No supernatural drinks. It’s against the law. But they do go out and have a good time. They dance, or just do whatever they want. They always seem like they have fun.

There is also a group for the elder members of the pride. They get together quite frequently too. There is a group for literally anything you can think of. I think there was even a group for baking. Honestly, it probably wouldn’t be bad for me to join that club. Maybe I can learn how to cook or bake or something.

I’m not a bad cook, but I’m also not a good cook. I mean, clearly I’m better than Dash. He can literally burn water. And he has. More than once. Thankfully a shifters nose is better than a humans. I smelled the hot metal and got it off the stove before it could burn the house down. But it’s kind of funny, and definitely fun to tease him about.

As I head inside, I smell a familiar sour smell. It smells like a panther, but I honestly think my mind is just playing tricks on me. I’ve been smelling it for weeks now, but there is never anybody there.

Nobody else seems to notice the smell, so I know it’s just me.

We would’ve known if there were a panther here tonight. Everybody would know.

I head up the stairs, going toward Sinclair’s room. I want to get a long shower and change into my pajamas. Dash, Declan, and Sinclair are talking with some members of their pride.

To be honest, I think taking a long shower and having some alone time sounds wonderful. Not that I don’t love my mates, I do. They’re wonderful. But sometimes it’s nice to have a little alone time too.

I take off my dress, tossing it into the dirty clothes. I spilled some pink icing on it earlier, and I’m hoping the stain will come out of the dress. Just as I’m about to walk into the bathroom, I spot something out of the corner of my eye.

I turn, and I see a big, manila envelope sitting on top of the bed. My name is written on it with a black marker.

Strange.

I sit down on the bed and I open the envelope, looking inside curiously.
