"Come on." Cathy grabbed my hand and pulled me through the woods, toward the car, nearly as fast as we'd run here.
"What's going on?" I asked, trying to get her to slow down. Iâd noticed her troubles earlier, and the last thing I wanted for her was a broken ankle or to have a briar whip across her face or eyes. Even when I wasnât in my fox form, I was still more aware of the forest than most, and even I had been struggling not to make a fool of myself.
She stopped and pulled me to her chest, smashing her lips into mine.
"Turns out I really, really liked seeing you go all alpha male," she said into my mouth.
Oh, hell, yes.
My heart raced and I kissed her back, letting my hands slide down her back and pull her into my body. She was all soft and curves leaning against me.
We stayed like that for a few minutes, exploring and tasting each other, then Cathy pulled away and grinned mischievously. Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled even in the dim light.
"Come on," she said, grabbing my hand again. "Let's go find a more private place."
"I'm a shifter," I reminded her. "Nobody will be able to sneak up on us." Well, except during a thunderstorm. And Halo, despite her claims, was exceptional at stealth.
She looked around the woods. "I'm not really into wet leaves or scratchy bark, though. Or bugs. Or the possibility of were-squirrels watching us from the trees."
Heh. Sometime soon, Iâd take on the shape of a squirrel just to see her expression. As for outdoor sex, oh, boy, was she in for a treat. She was right about the wet ground, though. Near home, Iâd make sure a patch of short grass near the roses was free of any stones that could mar that delicate skin. And make sure people knew to avoid the area, so Cathy didnât get embarrassed by an audience. "I promise to repeat this experience one day when it's not soaking wet," I said as I took her hand and pulled her toward the car. I was now as eager as she to get somewhere dry. "When it's warm and dry, being intimate outside is one of the best things."
Cathy laughed excitedly, a sweet sound in my ears. "I'll hold you to that promise."
We got to the car, and I opened the door for her. I couldn't wait to show her how much fun this would be with the right setting. Or any setting that involved both of us naked.
"Let's go," I said, walking around to the driver's side.
Cathy grinned and nodded. "Quickly."
I laughed and started the car. We drove off, the anticipation of what was to come growing with every passing second. I broke the comfortable silence as I reached the highway. "Your place or mine?"
"Mine's closer. It's off the next exit."
The speed had crept up quite a bit and I regretfully slowed down; being stopped for a traffic ticket would not make this evening better.
