Warning: You have started a blood feud with the orc leader. He will hunt you or be hunted.

23. Old Enemy

Noah pushed his Spirit Run to the max as he charged through the endless trail of thick forest road. Dust was kicked up as he zigzagged between the trees. The forest was too dense, not allowing him to travel in a straight line.

A strong wind blew against him as he moved through a small open area, but he continued at full speed. He missed sunglasses from the real world. When he was a boy, his father possessed a magitech bike running on air magic. It was his dad’s most expensive possession. He used to take little Noah on rides at top speed, flying over their farm, the wind held at bay by shades. Little Noah looked forward to the days when they went on those rides, but they only happened once or twice a year. It cost a lot to procure air magic filled nanites.

Perhaps he shouldn’t have sold his farm and that bike. A bitter taste covered his tongue.

Halting below a huge pine tree, he leaned against the scratchy wood for a moment. He closed his eyes, letting warm tears roll down his cheeks. Since coming to the game, he’d had so many epiphanies about his old life. He wished he could go back and correct some of those mistakes. Perhaps he needed to be in the game to see his life from a new perspective.

He got up and continued after a brief rest.

Leaves crackled beneath his feet as he regained his speed. The smell of grapes wafted over the air from his right side. It must be Thia, he thought. She loved grapes, and whenever they came to the forest, she would go great lengths to get as many of them she could.

Silly child. A smile curled up his lips.

He caught up with Thia’s party less than a minute later. They all stopped as they spotted him. Their chests heaved frantically as they tried to gain a breath.

“Daddy.” Thia jumped on his face and licked him all over.

“Let’s go. We can’t stop for more than a minute. I got rid of the orcs temporarily, but they’re not far behind.” Noah hurried his woodworker party forward. Since he had enraged the orc group by killing a few of them, he could see them on the map as an enemy group. They were not much behind him in terms of distance, but they moved in all sort of directions as they didn’t know Noah’s exact track. If they travelled carefully, they would shake them soon. Plus, the town was just a few hours away, and once they arrived the orcs would no longer be a threat.

“My lord. I never thought you’d survive my last attack.” A familiar voice rang out as Noah and his group continued running. They were only a few hours from their destination.

Priston, the bastard, jumped down from a nearby tree, wielding a knife in each hand. They all halted in their tracks.
