9. It is interesting to compare Kemp’s account of her travels through Korea with that of British traveler Audrey Harris, who made a similar journey in 1936. By the 1930s, transport and communications were much better, but Harris had far more encounters with Japanese officials who repeatedly questioned her about her background and her travel plans.
