So what about it? Are you doing these things? If so, I have good news for you! You are in God’s will.

Are you not doing these things? Then review what you know and go do them and you will be in God’s will too!

But what about future things? The possibilities that lie out in front of us?

Is there any chance that based on what we already know, we might be able to get to the bottom of whether some specific action aligns with God’s will?

Romans 12, for example, seems to suggest that as we renew our minds and test ideas, we will be able to discern for ourselves.10

So what about it? Does doing some new thing shift your priorities away from what you already know of God? Does it make you too busy or too apathetic to observe a Sabbath? Does it make you too consumed with your mission to love the people around you? Does it catch you up in self-admiration, in the love of approval and applause?

Then those things are drifting you away from God’s will.

But does the choice in front of you naturally align with the values interlaced through the Scriptures?

Then that is his will! For goodness’ sake, get on with it!

Don’t be one of those people Jesus must look at and ask, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?”11

There are better things to do with your life other than to sift through every bag of Lays you can find, searching for some odd potato chip that resembles Jesus.

No matter what, you can always focus on living the part of God’s will you already know in whatever situation you find yourself. We know so much of God’s will, so entirely much, that even if you never scouted out one specific detail about the occupation in front of you or the destination you’re considering, you could still live your entire life just on that. We could busy ourselves for ten lifetimes just living out what we do know about God’s will.
