Norse Mythology

Norse paganism is the religious traditions of the Norsemen, a Germanic people living in the Nordic countries. Norse paganism is therefore a subset of Germanic paganism.

Germanic paganism refers to the theology and religious practices of north western Europe that goes back to the European iron age (900BC).

There was a lot of this going around at this time, for example; Germans had gods called Wodan and Donar. Anglo-Saxons had gods called Woden and Punor. The Norse had gods called Odin and Thor.

Is that similar or what.

So here we go and have a butchers at some of the lads and lasses of the Viking (Norse) Gods.

The first god in Norse mythology is Buri, and the story goes like this; A cow called Auoumbla (a primeval cow), was licking the salty ice of Ginnungagap. (a primeval void prior to the creation of manifest universe.).

She (the cow) licked the ice blocks that were salty, and the first day that she licked the blocks,

there came forth from the blocks in the evening a mans hair, the second day a mans head,

the third day the whole man was there, he is named Buri,

he was fair of feature, great and mighty. He begat a son called Borr.
